STATE Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi returned to Myanmar yesterday after wrapping up her five-day visit to China.
During a stopover at Kunming on the way back to Yangon, she held talks with Mr Li Jiheng, Secretary of Yunnan Provincial Committee of Communist Party of China, and Mr Chen Hao, Governor of Yunnan Province, at the Best Yuechang Hotel near the Kunming International Airport.
During the meeting, they discussed special bilateral cooperation, the rule of law in border areas, peace-making in Myanmar and close cooperation between the two parties.
Following the meeting, Mr Li  Jiheng  hosted a dinner in honour of the State Counsellor and members of the  Myanmar delegation.
The Myanmar delegation was welcomed at  the Yangon  International Airport by Yangon Region Chief Minister U  Phyo Min Thein and officials.
“China is the first non-ASEAN country the State Counsellor visited since taking office this April. So, China thanks her so much. This trip is also considered paying attention to the friendship between the two neighbours. We also found that the Chinese government is very willing to work for further improvement of the bilateral relations after the new government took office,” said Minister of State for Foreign Affairs U Kyaw Tin, who is also member of the delegation.—Myanmar News Agency
