Rice and other items donated by Malaysia for villages in Rakhine’s Buthidaung and Maungtaw Townships left Sittway on the two-deck watercraft, Aung Kyaw Moe (1), and arrived in Buthidaung Port yesterday evening. Officials from Buthidaung Administrative Committee were present to receive the donated items.
The list of items donated include 2,200 bags of rice, 350 cartons of drinking water, 66 bags of toothpaste, 36 bags of footwear, 45 bags of towels, 348 cartons of soap detergent, 625 cartons of instant noodles, 5 cartons of nail clippers, 33 cartons of razors, 4 cartons of oil, 17 cartons of soap bars, and 92 cartons of women’s essentials.
The Township Administrative Committee has stated that the total number of items donated from Malaysia include 6,000 bags of rice, 1,846 cartons of instant noodles, 975 cartons of drinking water, 100 cartons of toothpaste, 36 cartons of toothbrushes, 94 cartons of towels, 35 cartons of balm, and 562 cartons of soap detergent and are for Sittway, Pauktaw and Myebon Townships in Maungtaw District, with the rest of the donated items to be sent via Sittway to other townships concerned. The items will be carefully and systematically sent to villages in need.
