H.E Mr Paolo Gentiloni, the Prime Minister of Italy, welcomed State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who was in Rome on an official state visit, with a ceremonial guard at the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday.
The State Counsellor and the Prime Minister of Italy discussed bilateral cooperation, friendship and upgrading cooperation in the sectors of culture, agriculture and investment.
Present at the meeting were U Kyaw Tin, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, U Myint Naung, Myanmar ambassador to Italy and responsible officials.
The State Counsellor and party left Fiumicino International Airport in Rome at 7 pm local time and arrived in London several hours later.
The State Counsellor was welcomed at the Heathrow Airport by U Kyaw Zwa Min, Myanmar ambassador to Britain, Mr. Bill Henderson, special advisor of Britain’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E Mr Andrew Patrick, the British ambassador to Myanmar and other officials. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi then proceeded to the Dorchester Hotel in London, where she will stay for the duration of her visit.
