State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi met Britain’s Queen Elizabeth for lunch yesterday at Buckingham Palace in London.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who also serves as Myanmar’s foreign minister, later met Prince Charles, heir to the throne, and his wife Camilla, at Clarence House, their official residence in Westminster.
Prince William, Charles’s elder son, attended the queen’s lunch with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the palace said.
Accompanying the State Counsellor were Minister of State for Foreign Affairs U Kyaw Tin and Ambassador of Myanmar to United Kingdom U Kyaw Swa Min.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is currently conducting official state visits to several countries in Europe, including Belgium, Italy, the Vatican and England.
Before leaving for Britain, the State Counsellor held talks with Mr Paolo Gentiloni, the Prime Minister of Italy, in Rome on Thursday.
