The Rakhine State Government delivered farming machinery and rice seeds to farmers in Rakhine State yesterday.
The move is aimed at assisting the farmers who have to hire draught cattle to plough the fields, said U Kyaw Lwin, Rakhine State Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Mining, at the ceremony to hand over the machinery and rice seeds held at Udaung Village in southern Maungtaw.
At the ceremony, 800 baskets of rice seeds and 38 power tillers were delivered for 65 villages.
Meanwhile, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye visited internally displaced persons’ camps in Rakhine State on Saturday, delivering aid and gifts.
Accompanied by the Rakhine State Minister for Security and Border Affairs, the Union Minister went to Saythamagyi Camp and Satyokya Camp, assisting in supplying power and presenting clothes to the women and toys to the children.
Yesterday morning, the Union Minister and party visited the Home for the Aged in Sittway and contributed cash to the fund of the Home for the Aged.
Dr Win Myat Aye also visited Tain Nyo village and Pauk Taw Pyin village in MraukU Township and Nayan village and Khaung Laung Ywar Thit village in Minbya Township and met local residents.
At the meetings with residents, he fulfilled the immediate needs of the peoples, providing Ks2.4 million to build two toilets in the Tain Nyo Village primary school and the Pauk Taw Pyin Village sub high school, Ks500,000 to construct a concrete road in a monastery, Ks900,000 for school desks, Ks2.5 million for a well in Khaung
Laung Ywar Thit Village and Ks1.2 million for a toilet in a school.
In addition, the Union Minister also provided clothes, school uniforms and warm clothes worth Ks18.8 million.
