Rice export from border point of entries increases by over 200 tonnes

MYANMAR exported almost 25,600 tonnes of rice and gluten rice to overseas buyers in the second week of this month and earned US$8.016 million, an increase of more than 200 tonnes when compared to the previous week, according to the Ministry of Commerce.  Last week, the country exported 25,384 tonnes of marketable kinds of rice to foreign trading partners. Between 8 and 14 July, more than 25,000 tonnes of rice went to China from the Muse 105-mile trade zone, Chinshwehaw, Lwejel and Kanpaiktee border point of entries, while 458 tonnes of Emahta rice were sent to Bangladesh via the Maungtaw cross-border gate.
The export volume of parboiled rice also increased from 2,793 tonnes to 3,419 tonnes during the same period, earning $839,000. Between 9 and 15 July, 11,905 tonnes of white rice and parboiled rice were sent to foreign countries. Myanmar continues to export rice to Singapore, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Russia, Hong Kong, African countries and some western states.—Khine Khant
