Mon State High Court to get new building

A foundation laying ceremony for the Mon State High Court building was held at the construction site of the building on 14 October on State High Court Road, Mandalay Ward, Mawlamyine, Mon State and was attended by Chief Justice of the Union U Htun Htun Oo.
At the ceremony, Union Minister for Electricity and Energy and Construction U Win Khaing, Mon State Chief Minister Dr. Aye Zan, Mon State Hluttaw Speaker Daw Tin Ei, Mon State Chief Judge, Kayin State Chief Judge, Mon State Minister for Municipal Affairs and Construction and Mon State constituency 2 Amyotha Hluttaw representative Daw Nwe Nwe Aung drove the ceremonial stakes into the ground and sprinkled scented water at the site.
Chief Justice of the Union U Htun Htun Oo also participated in the ceremonial stake driving, according to tradition.
The State High Court building is a three-storey reinforced concrete building that measures 240-feet in length and 240-feet in width, built on a five-acre plot of land. The courthouse will be constructed by Ministry of Construction, Building Department, Construction 3, Special Group 13, it is learnt.
