Five-hundred acres of ripe monsoon rice in Kyaungtaung village tract were harvested yesterday morning with eight Kubota harvesters of the Agricultural Mechanisation Department. The harvesting was led by U Khin Zaw Ohn of the Agricultural Mechanisation Department head office with 22 staff members from the Myinlut frontline station.
“Rice in Kanpu village tract was harvested with six Kubota harvesters on 29 October and will be completed on 4 November. Now, harvesting is conducted in Kyaungtaung village tract with 8 Kubota harvesters. It is expected to be completed on 5 November. After this village tract, monsoon rice from 400 acres in Thapyaytaw village tract and more than 5,000 acres in Myinlut village tract will be harvested” said U Khin Zaw Ohn.
Personnel from the Department of Agriculture and the Land Record Department were also participating in the harvesting in their respective sectors. The Department of Agriculture is beefing up their participating personnel with workers from district and town offices, it is learnt.
“Our Department of Agriculture will accept the harvested monsoon rice. We will clean it, sun-dry it at moisture level of 13 per cent and pack it. Afterwards, it will be stored”, said U Soe Maung of the Department of Agriculture.
Meanwhile, the Land Record Department is taking record of the harvested rice and the output of each farmer.
A total of 71,552 acres of monsoon rice was planted in Maungtaw Township, and more than 40,000 acres are now ready to be harvested, it is learnt.
While some of the rice was harvested by Kubota harvesters from the Agricultural Mechanisation Department, in some villages, farmers trained on using machine tillers distributed by Agricultural Mechanisation Department were seen harvesting monsoon rice with those machine tillers.
