The Union Minister said General Administration Department (GAD) has a high tradition in the government’s administrative mechanism and historically was conducting administrative works since 1908 as per Myanmar Secretariat Code. It was established in states, regions, districts, townships and village level to conduct administrative works. In 1958 it was moved to Prime Minister Office. In 1974 People’s Council time, staffs of GAD has fulfilled their assigned duties. GAD was reformed in 7 November 1988 had been conducting its duties for 29 years by now.
The government is striving toward achieving a permanent peace. As GAD personnel are assigned widely from ward/village-tract level to union level, they need to let the people and ethnic nationals in their assigned area have a taste of peace and strive for them to participate together and assist in achieving permanent peace. GAD personnel are also in the committees to assess cases of confiscated farmland and other lands. So they need to resolve the problems of confiscated farmland according to the law, rules and regulations fairly and compassionately. GAD personnel need to be dutiful and responsible in conducting their works to the best of their ability according to the democratic standards while keeping the 6 Oath of a public servant and work according to laws and rules for the country and the people. They need to avoid corruption totally. Corruption is the biggest threat to development of the country, democracy, peace and stability. Your ego must not be put in the front and conduct straight forwardly according to rules and regulations. According to the work nature, all levels are urged to be managed properly with good leadership and family style relations said the Union Minister.
