It has been noticed that there had been some confusion among the people and certain international organizations about what is going to happen to the paddy once it has been harvested by the government personnel in collaboration with the private sector companies under the auspices of the UEHRD – Union Enterprise for Humanitarian Assistance, Resettlement and Development in Rakhine.
In this regard it has been learnt from the Ministry of the Office of the State Counsellor, that the paddy that has been harvested will be returned to the original owners either in cash or in the form of paddy. This has been made possible because the harvested rice has been systematically recorded with the following data: Owner’s name, plot number, quantity and moisture level (13 per cent). After recording thus, the rice is bagged and stored in designated storage areas. The government personnel who are performing this task are from the AMD – Agriculture Mechanization Department. AMD personnel from Mandalay and Sagaing Regions have been brought in to support the local AMD personnel.- UEHRD Information and Communications Office.
