A ceremony on the transfer and opening of Agriculture Education and Rural Development training centre was held yesterday morning in the hall of the Yezin Agriculture Education and Rural Development School, Zeyathiri Township.
At first Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Aung Thu, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Myanmar Mr. Kim Jung Han, Chief Representative of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Myanmar Office Dr. Shin Euicheol, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Hla Kyaw, Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance U Maung Maung Win, Nay Pyi Taw Council member U Aye Munag Sein cut the ceremonial ribbon to open the Agriculture Education and Rural Development training centre.
Next, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and officials sprinkled scented waters on the commemorative plaque of the training centre and then viewed the training centre exhibit and photo exhibition of new village activities in states and regions.
As per the bilateral friendship programme, a Record of Discussion (ROD) was signed between KOICA and the Department of Agriculture on 17 February 2014 for the Myanmar Saemaul Undong Project. The Myanmar Saemaul Undong Project conducted with the support of KOICA is for the development of model formats in rural development and relevant governmental organisations are urged to cooperate for progress and success.
The project will be conducted for two years until 2019, and officials from the Department of Agriculture are advised to cooperate with technicians from Korea to set up and implement programmes for the long term existence and effective utilisation of the Agriculture Education and Rural Development training centre that opened yesterday. Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Myanmar Mr. Kim Jung Han, Chief Representative of KOICA Myanmar Office Dr. Shin Euicheol made speeches of greetings yesterday.—Myanmar News Agency
