Children’s Literature Festival Yangon, jointly organized by the Ministry of Information, Ministry of Education and Yangon Region Government, will be held from 6-8 January, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Basic Education High School No. (6) Botahtaung (Saint Paul).
A coordination meeting was held yesterday morning in Basic Education High School No. (6) in Aung Kyaw Hall. At the meeting, Botahtaung Township Pyithu Hluttaw representative Daw Myint Myint Soe explained about the festival, while Information and Public Relations Department Deputy Director General U Aye Kywe discussed the status of work completed for the festival.
The festival will include books exhibitions, books sales, a poetry reciting competition, story-telling competition, debates, painting competition, origami competition, scrabble tournament, jigsaw puzzle, games, sports and shows during the three days.
On the first day, there will be 28 entertainment programs by students from various schools. Also, 38 entertainment programs and 28 entertainment programs are scheduled for the second and third day, and will include a Kyaukse elephant dance program.
During the festival, workshops on children’s literature will be conducted.
Children’s literature festivals have also been held in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, Mawlamyine, Taunggyi and Monywa. The festival is being held in Yangon for the sixth time and is open to the public. — Aung Min Han
