Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla yesterday paid their last respects to the remains of Myaing Gyi Ngu Sayadaw U Thuzana who passed away on 13 October.
The Senior General and his wife, accompanied by senior military officers, arrived at the NanOo Monastery in Myaing Gyi Ngu, Kayin State, yesterday morning and paid their last respects, according to the Office of the Commander-in-Chief.
Afterwards, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife attended a ceremony to donate dry rations and offertories for the final rites of Sayadaw U Thuzana and donated rice, cooking oil, food and offertories to a Member of the Sangha.
Following the ceremony, they viewed the preparations for holding the final rites of the Sayadaw.
The Sayadaw passed away at the age of 71 in a hospital in Bangkok and his remains were transported to his monastery in the town of Myaing Gyi Nyu in Kayin State. — MNA
