Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein said an Agricultural Master Plan that was drawn up will soon be implemented in Yangon Region with the aim of developing the agriculture sector.
The Chief Minister made the remark during a meeting with the media while attending a Flower Festival held in Yangon yesterday morning at People’s Park, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Myanmar-Netherlands diplomatic relationship.
“Agriculture sector in Yangon needs to be developed. Yangon is well placed with airports and ports to export its agricultural products internationally. Although agriculture and animal breeding zones were established during the past three years, technical cooperation and support is still weak. More will be done to develop this sector,” said the Yangon Region Chief Minister.
He continued to say that, “In developing the agriculture sector, we need to reach a stage where our fruits and flowers reach the international level. Raising the technology level as well as acquiring a market is important.”
“That is why it is expected that there’ll be more cooperation with other countries in this.”
The Agriculture Master Plan to be implemented in Yangon Region was drawn up by agriculture organisations and experts and it was already discussed and approved by the Yangon Region Hluttaw. The project duration is three years said Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein. — Min Thit (MNA)
