A ceremony was held at the Uppatasanti Pagoda, Nay Pyi Taw, yesterday morning for 10th Abhidhamma Day ceremony, the successful conclusion of the 107th non-stop recitation of Pa Htan (Patthana) and the 1st Tripitaka puja ceremony.
Pagoda Ovadacariya Sayadaws and members of the Sanghas led by State Ovadacariya Pyinmana Maha Visutarama Zaygon Monastery Presiding Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maharattha Guru Bhaddantaka Vihara, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko and wife, Union Attorney General U Tun Tun Oo and wife, Deputy Minister U Kyi Min, Nay Pyi Taw Council members, the Deputy Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and their spouses, donors and departmental officials.
Next, the ceremony attendees took the Nine Precepts from Ovadacariya (patron) Sayadaw of the Uppatasanti Pagoda Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maharattha Guru Bhaddantaka Vihara, and they listened to the Sanghas reciting Parittas.
Afterwards, the Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko and officials offered offertories to the Sayadaw and sanghas and offered “soon”, a day meal, to the Sayadaw and Sanghas.
As the day was the Full Moon Day of Thadingyut, devotees flock to pagodas in Nay Pyi Taw Council area and many religious organizations recited Dhammacakka Sutta and chanted religious verses while offering oil lamps before the images of the pagodas.
