Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Ye Aung and Chin State Chief Minister U Salai Lian Luai inspected development works in Tedim and Reedhorda townships on 19 and 20 December.
They began their inspection with the Tedim-Manipura River Bridge (Phiton) project in Tedim Township jointly conducted by Myanmar Ministry of Border Affairs and India, where officials reported on the construction status of the bridge and Union Minister Lt-Gen Ye Aung coordinated on the long-term durability of the bridge.
Later, the Union Minister inspected the Manipura River Bridge (Twidam) and coordinated with the local people and Chin State government members to prevent overweight vehicles from crossing the bridge.
On 20 December, Union Minister Lt-Gen Ye Aung and Chin State Chief Minister U Salai Lian Luai visited a site in Tedim Town where a two-storey building for women’s vocational training and general administration department office is to be built with allocation from the fiscal year 2018-2019 Union Budget Fund and drove a stake into the ground there.
The union minister also inspected the classrooms, the dormitory and dining halls. They then met with students from Border Areas National Races Youth Development Training school to provide guidance and coordinated on their requirements.
Next, they inspected construction projects of the Region Development Supervision Department and met with personnel from the department.
In the afternoon, they visited and inspected a two-storey school building in Basic Education High School (branch) in Reedhorda constructed with funds provided by India.
Afterwards, they visited a planned water distribution site for Reedhorda Town where the Union Minister and Chief Minister coordinated on matters required after officials explained about the survey status. The Ministry of Border Affairs is carrying out the two main development duties in the region – infrastructure development and human resources development – not only with the government fund but also in cooperation with international organisations.
The 310-foot long 12-foot wide Manipura River Bridge (Phiton) was constructed with K638.054 million provided by India and the 400-foot long 14-foot wide Manipura River Bridge (Twidam) was construction with K660 million provided by the government.
The two bridges were constructed in accordance with the local road and bridge committee standards and can resist weights up to 13 tonnes. — MNA (Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun)
