Maungtaw residents held Kathina robe offering ceremonies on the Full Moon of Tazaungmon yesterday as the situation in the town returns to normality.
The town in northern Rakhine saw shutting of its schools, markets and businesses due to the October-9 deadly attacks on the border outposts.
“This year’s Kathina ceremonies are not as crowded as previous years because we fought back our fear to hold the ceremonies,” U Thawma, Presiding Sayadaw of Baho Monastery. The Buddhist devotees in Maungtaw did the meritorious deeds yesterday at the monasteries in the town.—Myanmar News Agency
