While conducting security operations in Kutkai, notrthern Shan State, columns of government troops came under heavy weapons fire from about 30 members of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) about one mile from Honaung Village. Government troops exchanged fire until the insurgents retreated to the south yesterday morning.
The government troops pursued the armed groups, which still fired heavy weapons as they retreated further south.
During the incident, the government troops seized one cartridge for an AK-47, 30 rounds of ammunition, six rockets, four backpacks, two guerilla uniforms, two badges of the TNLA and other accessories.—Myanmar News Agency
