Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin received Mr. Johan Cels, the newly-appointed UNHCR Representative in Myanmar and accepted his credentials at 10:00 am on 19 November 2018 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting after the presentation of his credentials, they exchanged views on ways to strengthen cooperation between Myanmar and UNHCR, speeding up the implementation of the MoU signed between the Government of Myanmar, UNDP and UNHCR on 6-6-2018, implementation of Quick Impact Projects which will be beneficial to all communities in Rakhine State in parallel to the field assessments as part of the implementation of the MoU, the upcoming visit of UNHCR High Commissioner Mr. Filippo Grandi to Myanmar, the supportive measures that can be undertaken by UNHCR in assisting the ongoing efforts of the Government of Myanmar for the success of the voluntary, safe and dignified repatraition of the displaced persons. — MNA
