Myanmar, Cambodia hold 2nd Meeting of Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation

The 2nd Meeting of Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation between Myanmar and Cambodia was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw on 1 Feburary 2019 at 10:00 am. The meeting was co-chaired by U Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Mr. PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
During the Meeting, the two Ministers touched on a wide range of issues relating to promote bilateral relations and cooperation; to enhance cooperation in trade and investment sectors; to coordinate between the two sides to develop the tourism sector by operating direct air links between Bagan and Angkor and to discuss possible signing of the MoU in further promoting religious and cultural affairs; to jointly celebrate the 65th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2020, to promote people-to-people contacts; to enhance cooperation in culture, education, forestry, environment and economic sectors between the two countries; and to work together at the regional and international fora on the issues of mutual interest and concerns.
The two Ministers signed the Agreed Minutes after the meeting. After the meeting, U Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation, hosted a luncheon in honour of Mr. PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the delegation at Mount Pleasant Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw at 12 noon. Mr. PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia left Myanmar in the evening on 1 February 2019.—MNA (Translated by Zaw Min)
