Foreign Heads of State send felicitations to President U Htin Kyaw

The following are messages of felicitations from Foreign Heads of State / Government sent to President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Htin Kyaw, on the occasion of the 69th Anniversary Independence Day of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

Your Excellency,
On behalf of the people of Singapore, I offer my warm congratulations to you and the people of Myanmar on the auspicious occasion of Myanmar’s 69th Independence Day.
2016 was a significant milestone for Singapore and Myanmar as we celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. The two countries have strengthened bilateral cooperation on various fronts including trade and investment, vocational education, and air connectivity. The lifting of visa requirements for Ordinary Passport holders of both countries makes it more convenient for our peoples to visit each other’s countries. As Singapore and Myanmar embark on the next chapter of our bilateral relations, I am confident that the ties between our two countries will continue to grow and deepen.

We are particularly grateful to friendly Myanmar for its consistent position regarding non-recognition of the succession of the southern Serbian Province of Kosovo and Metohija. The Republic of the Union of Myanmar has also demonstrated its solidarity and friendship with Serbia, as well as its resolutions to respect international law when voting against the efforts to admit the self-proclaimed state of “Kosovo” to UNESCO, at this Organization’s Paris General Conference, which we highly appreciate.
